(Head office: Suita City, Osaka Prefecture; President and CEO: Mizutome Koichi; hereinafter referred to as F&LC), is pleased to announce that it has decided to open a Sushiro store at the 2025 World Expo, Japan (hereinafter referred to as the Osaka-Kansai Expo). In Osaka, where Sushiro was founded, people from all over the world will be able to experience the charm of Japanese food culture and the sushi restaurant of the future.

Anywhere Anysushi Forest Sushi Restaurant

Currently, the sustainability of marine resources such as wild fish is in doubt due to the impacts of climate change on a global scale. At the same time, food tech and land-based aquaculture technology are developing rapidly, and we believe that one day in the future it will be commonplace to produce fish and ingredients for delicious sushi anywhere. The Sushiro Future Expo Store (tentative name) will be located near the “Silent Forest” in the center of the venue. The exterior walls of the store will be finished with a mirror finish, and the design will blend into the forest, using the Silent Forest as a backdrop. You can see the trees outside from inside the store, so you can enjoy sushi in a space that feels like you are in the forest. We are preparing a store full of surprises and content that will allow you to enjoy delicious sushi while feeling like you are in a sushi restaurant of the future, where you can eat fresh and delicious sushi even in the middle of the forest. Please visit us when you come to the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

Background of our participation in the Osaka-Kansai Expo

F&LC has set the vision of “Change the taste of everyday life. Spread joy to the world.” and aims to be a global restaurant company originating from Japan. With Sushiro at the center, we have expanded to nine countries and regions around the world, with 159 overseas stores (as of the end of April 2024). At the Dubai World Expo 2020, we opened a restaurant as the only restaurant in the Japan Pavilion, and this will be our second time opening a restaurant at an international exposition. In order to realize a sustainable society, we are promoting sustainability management aimed at building a circular model that can sustain diverse marine and fishery resources. As we also sympathize with the theme of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, “Designing a future society where life shines,” we decided to open a restaurant in a “future-type business facility” where visitors can actually experience new food-related technologies and cultures, which is part of the “Future Society Showcase Project” planned by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition.
