1. Personal information protection policy

FOOD & LIFE COMPANIES LTD. (the “Company”) and its group companies (meaning subsidiary companies and affiliated companies (as defined in the Regulation on Terminology, Forms, and Preparation Methods of Financial Statements) including overseas subsidiary companies and affiliated companies, and together with the Company, the “Group”) believe it very important and take it as a social responsibility to protect personal information of the customers and employees of the Group in conducting the businesses of the Group under the vision statement, “Make every day more delicious. Spread joy around the world.” In terms of this statement, the Group declares it will build, operate, and continue to improve its personal information protection management system in order to implement and maintain the following policy.

  1. The Group appropriately collects, uses, and provides personal information to the extent necessary for its operations. The Group uses personal information within the scope of the specific purposes of use hereunder and does not use personal information beyond that scope. The Group takes necessary measures for realizing usage of personal information prescribed in previous sentence.
  2. The Group complies with the applicable laws, regulations, national guidelines, and other rules for handling personal information.
  3. The Group makes efforts to prevent any leakage of, loss of, or damage to personal information by taking safety management measures.
  4. The Group sets up a contact point for receiving opinions and consultations about personal information and appropriately and swiftly responds to these opinions and consultations.
  5. The Group operates a personal information protection management system and continuously improves the system by regularly checking and reviewing.

2. Purposes of using personal information

The Group uses personal information limited to the following purposes of use.

  1. Personal information related to customers

    • To respond to, confirm, and record customer opinions and inquiries for improvements
    • To provide information on discounts, special offers, and promotion activities to customers
    • To inform each customer of his or her seat waiting status at a Group store
    • To contact customers who ordered products to pick up at a Group store
    • To notify prize/monitor campaign winners; to provide products and rewards to such winners; and to make responses in planning and managing events
    • To conduct questionnaire surveys, regarding services and products and to respond to customer inquiries
    • To conduct surveys on demand, for product development and others by age group, gender, family structure, and regional information
    • To confirm registration of members-only services and to provide services
    • To inform of the delivery of products, and arrange relevant business operators for commercial transactions and to send invoices and other documents for commercial transactions
    • To inform our new products and services according to customers’ interests and preferences analyzing customers’ data of browsing history and purchase history
  2. Personal information related to persons belonging to business partners

    • To inform, report, and settle transactions
    • To confirm, record, and negotiate business deals for properties to be used as stores
  3. Personal information related to job applicants and applicants for specific activities

    • To contact and provide information to job applicants and applicants for specific activities and to otherwise use for recruitment activities
  4. Personal information related to the officers, employees, and ex-employees of each Group company and their family members

    • For business communication, work attendance, personnel evaluation, employee benefits and welfare, salary payment, etc.
  5. Personal information related to neighbors of each Group facility
    • For emergency and other necessary contacts
  6. Personal information related to persons recorded by one or more security cameras installed in each Group facility

    • To prevent crimes and disasters in the facility and to maintain safety in the facility
  7. Personal information related to shareholders

    • For shareholders to exercise their rights and for the Company to fulfill its obligations under the Companies Act
    • For the Company to provide benefits to the shareholders
    • To implement measures to facilitate the relationship between the shareholders and the Group
    • To manage shareholders registry, such as preparing data based on laws and regulations

3. Sharing

The Company may share personal information with the following parties.

  1. Scope of sharing parties

    The Group (however, personal information is shared with overseas Group companies in accordance with 5 below).

  2. Purposes of use for sharing

    The Group may share personal data derived from the personal information stated in each item of “2. Purposes of using personal information” for the purposes of use stated in that item accordingly.

  3. Items of personal information to be shared

    Name, address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, history of purchasing products, company name, business unit, title, and others

4. Provision and disclosure to third parties (excluding overseas third parties)

The Group will not provide the personal data to any third party excluding the following cases:

  1. if the Group has obtained the person’s consent to such provision;
  2. if the Group provides such data in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations;
  3. if the Group provides or discloses such data to one or more contractors to the extent necessary to achieve the Purpose of using as stated in “2. Purposes of using personal information”; or
  4. if such data is shared as stated in “3. Sharing”

5. Provision and disclosure to overseas third parties

The Company will not provide the personal data to any third party in overseas (including the Group) excluding the following cases:

  1. if the Group has obtained the parson’s consent to such provision; or
  2. if the Group provides the personal information only to third party in a foreign country taking an appropriate and reasonable measure for handling the personal information in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

6. Recording

  1. To accurately understand and respond to inquiries, the Group may record phone calls.
  2. For crime prevention and safety management, images and videos of individuals may be recorded by security cameras and other devices installed in stores and other relevant places, and they may be used for the Purposes as stated in “2. Purposes of using personal information”.

7. Location information

The Company uses customers’ location information (including but not limited to GPS position, Wi-Fi information and Bluetooth information collected from customers’ electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptop computers etc.) for providing (including but not limited to responding to inquiries from customers, notice to customers and anti-fraud measures for providing services appropriately and safely.) the Services (meaning our services, products, advertises and any other contents), for improving the Services or considering new services, and for surveying analyzing usage stats of the Services. In addition, for delivery of special offers of our restaurants near customers’ current location, the Company collects the customers’ location information even when our application is closed, or it is not used. If customers want to limit our collection of their location information, this can be changed on the settings of customers’ electronic devices.

8. About Cookies

In this website, the Company uses Google Analytics of Google Inc. to improve user experience and to analyze site usage. Google Analytics collects and stores users’ cookies. You can disable the cookie function by changing your browser settings, however, please note that, by doing so, part of the website may not be available.

9. About safety management measures

The Company takes necessary and appropriate safety management measures for preventing leakage, loss or damage of personal data. The Company supervises employees and contractors (including subcontractors) who handle personal data necessarily and appropriately.

10. Disclosure, correction, deletion, etc. of personal information

If the Company receives a request from a person who has disclosed his or her personal information by him/herself, or a duly authorized agent, for notification of the purposes of using, disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of using, erasure, or suspension of providing third parties with regard to the person’s personal information stored in a database retained by the Company, the Company will respond, excluding following cases, promptly to the request after identity verification of the person in accordance with the laws and regulations.

  1. if there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of the person concerned or a third party;
  2. if there is a risk of significant hindrance to the proper conduct of our business; or
  3. if it would violate laws and regulations.

11. Amendments to privacy policy

The Group may amend this privacy policy without prior notice in response to a change in the social conditions, a revision of a law or regulation, or any other event.
