Akindo Sushiro received a letter of appreciation from Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture for its “Corporate Hometown Tax Donation” (information updated August 8, 2024)

Akindo Sushiro Co., Ltd. (Head office: Suita City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Kouhei Nii), a subsidiary of FOOD & LIFE COMPANIES LTD. (Head office: Suita City, Osaka Prefecture; President and CEO: Koichi　Mizutome ; hereinafter referred to as F&LC), made a donation to Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture through the corporate hometown tax system on September 15, 2023. We are now pleased to announce that we received a letter of appreciation on January 15, 2024.

Background of the donation

F&LC’s vision is “Discovering new tastiness, Sharing moments of joy.” We believe that in order to continue to deliver safe and delicious food to our customers, it is essential to take a sustainable approach to our business activities with an eye to the future. In recent years, marine fishery resources have been declining, so “sustainable procurement of seafood” is important in promoting sustainability management, and we are strengthening our efforts in the aquaculture business, which allows for planned procurement while using appropriate wild fish. As one example, in 2022, we established Marineverse Co., Ltd. in a joint venture with Takuyo Co., Ltd., a major aquaculture company, and started operations in several areas including Amakusa City, as well as began various demonstration experiments. Due to this connection, we made a donation to Amakusa City through the corporate version of hometown tax.

Specific projects for which donations will be used

1. Survey of the dolphin environment off the coast of Tsujishima
2. Coastal debris area countermeasures promotion project
3. Fisheries Resource Recovery and Infrastructure Development Project
4. Resource management promotion project
